Haha ok, so I think that announcement was a little harshly worded, since the journal itself was authored with great frustration. But in actuality, all I was trying to say, is I upload pretty much nothing but doodles and sketches here anymore. haha I mean seriously, when was the last time you saw something with clean lines and shading even? haha, not that I was undermining my potential as an artist or whatever, because even I (the entity of rock bottom self esteem) understand I posses potential, I just haven't made very much of it, as of late.

However, I don't plan on this immediately changing, but I am practicing extensively.

So anyways, you guys were right, I shouldn't trash anything, but I did move it all to an "old" folder. haha

Thank you guys for your supportive comments, even though the journal wasn't an attempt to reel in said comments. XD


In other news.

The following is a random thought process / argument with accompanying counter arguments, and I'm sure no one will actually sit here and read the whole thing.


I had someone comment to me last night that they found an array of a certain deviant's characters irritating because of their subtle similarities. (not to incriminate you, if you are reading this, I simply thought it brought up an interesting point.) The similarities mainly pertaining to gender and overall attractiveness. However, I feel as if people shouldn't be looked down upon for having a preference for a character with a certain kind of traits, even if the spectrum is rather limited. Now this is not saying you shouldn't know HOW to draw different kinds of characters, or use this as an excuse to bury a certain handicap you may have (like drawing a certain gender, body type, etc., which a lot of the time is what people ARE doing), but I view the characters that you keep "close" to you as how you keep a certain type of people close to you. Not because you are intolerant of different types of people (or that you don't have the occasional odd-ball friend that you aren't even quite sure WHY you're friends with them), but simply because we seem to naturally be drawn to a certain type, often because they are similar to ourselves in one way or another, and are easy to relate with.  The same can be said of characters. More than often, characteristics and/or preferences of the artist themselves are reflected in the characters, and if you think about it, it makes sense. The artist's mind birthed the character, so it will, inevitably, mirror some aspect of the artist themselves, much like a child mirrors their parents.

I'd actually love to hear other people's thoughts on this... although I doubt anyone actually read all that, so... XD

1. I can't sleep without music. Well like, I can if I have to, but I'll end up like laying there for eight million years until I just pass out.

27. I prefer male characters (OC or not), singers, movie stars, and even friends, and I have no idea why.

28. I prefer sad stories, songs, and endings as opposed to happy ones, and again I have no idea why.

29. I always say I'll do things, set my goals high, and then never do.

30. I have an odd dream every single night. I can't remember not having at least a semi odd dream for at least the past year or so.
